JOE.
By: Holly Anderson
Oh how you fill me up!
Some days in small doses
And other times with cups overflowing
But sometimes you leave me empty, wishing you would run through my veins
Oh how you make me race!
My heart, my energy, and sometimes
even my bladder
Oh how you awaken me!
You startle me from slumberland
As I escape the traps of unconscious oblivion
with your rich, savory, dark flavor
Oh how I cherish those long, sleepless nights
As my extremities jitter through the hours
And the sense of heavy eyelids surpass me
with every passing wink
But oh how I hate to remember
As I’m filling you up
That our relationship only goes
as deep as my coffee cup
